Brook Trout

Superior Country is home to the world record Brook Trout caught out of the Nipigon River. Brook Trout are a cold water fish native to Ontario. They have an olive-green, brown, or black back, with a white or silvery belly.  These cold-water lovers are found in clear, cold lakes, beaver ponds, and in areas with plenty of coverage from overhead branches. Brook Trout can be found in streams with cold, quiet pools, between runs of fast water and rapids.

Brook Trout are often found together in chilly ponds at the base of waterfalls or rapids in the summer months. These fish are in a multitude of lakes, streams, river, and creeks in Northwestern Ontario. Superior Country has many lodges and outfitters to help you find the perfect fishing location to catch a Brook Trout of your own.
