The Pijitawabik Palisades (Ice/Rock Climbing and Hiking)
Pijitawabik Palisades are world-renown as one of the top three ice climbing destinations in North America. With 110 waterfalls ranging to over 130 feet high and freezing up to 33 feet thick, the Pijitawabik Palisades boast the greatest concentration of climbable ice east of the Rockies. These 500 foot cliffs draw ice and rock climbers from all over the world to test this imposing precipice.
The Kenogamisis Golf Course
The Kenogamisis Golf Club is unique as it is the only 18 hole golf course between Thunder Bay and New Liskeard along Highway 11. Located in Geraldton, this golf course features a rare blend of 18 holes situated along the scenic shores of Kenogamisis Lake. Greenstone’s Survive the Park – Mud Run
This unique event is held out at beautiful MacLeod Provincial Park off Highway 11. Survive the Park is a non-competitive obstacle course featuring 10+ obstacles, including MUD PITS. First Nation PowWow’s
The Greenstone Region is home to several aboriginal communities – Aroland, Ginoogaming, Long Lake 58, Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek (Sand Point), Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek (Rocky Bay), and Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek (Lake Nipigon). Cultural events such as PowWow’s are becoming larger every year as it allows the First Nation communities to share their culture with the rest of the world. With endless feet of snow and hundreds of kilometers of pristine wilderness trails, the Greenstone Snowmobiling Clubs brings the combined trails and resources of the Geraldton Snow Club and Longlac Snowmobiling Club together. There are 4 fish derby’s that take place in Greenstone during the summer months. Each of them are unique, and some have been around for over 50 years.
