Located Nipigon, Ontario, Nipigon River Bear Hunts is conveniently located just over an hour east of Thunder Bay International Airport. If you chose to drive directly to Nipigon, travel just 2 hours east of the Pigeon River Border crossing or 6.5 hours north-west of the Sault Ste. Marie Border Crossing. Upon arriving you’ll meet with Bob Bearman at his main shop based on Highway 11/17. Depending on time of arrival you’ll be able to begin hunting the same day or following morning at one of his many stands located up the picturesque 81 Road on Highway 17.

Anyone wishing to hunt black bear must have the following:
– Outdoors Card
– Black bear license listed on your license summary
– Black bear tag or be party hunting with a person who has a valid bear tag
– Proof of firearm accreditation if you are hunting with a gun
– Non-residents are also required to have a black bear hunting validation certificate.
It is illegal to:
– Possess a bear gallbladder that has been separated from the carcass
– Let spoil or to abandon the flesh of any harvested game wildlife, including black bear, that is suitable for food
– Hunt black bears within 400 meters of a waste disposal site, regardless of whether the land is Crown or private
– Shoot or interfere with black bears in their dens, or damage or destroy their dens
