The Palisades Trail (Pijitawabik) is located in Orient Bay within the Municipality of Greenstone in northwestern Ontario. This 10 km (6.2 mi) roundtrip trail features constructed stairs and bridges to minimize erosion and make the steeper sections more accessible. The trail climbs 150 m (492 m) over 1.6 km (0.9 mi) to the summit. There are four designated lookouts along the cliff edge offering views of Lake Nipigon. The hike ends at Cascade Falls, and on the return, hikers can take the Browse Lake loop for an alternate route. This loop branches off shortly after starting back from the summit and re-joins the main trail at the stairs leading to the base.
During winter, the Palisades Cascade Falls transform into a premier ice climbing destination, drawing climbers from across the world.
To access the trail, drive 40 km (24.8 mi) northeast of Nipigon on Highway 11. A blue and white sign marks the entrance, with parking available 200 m (656 ft) from the highway.
