Pebble Beach

One of the most famous locations in Marathon is Pebble Beach. Pulling up to the parking lot, you will find yourself looking out to a view of Lake Superior reaching far into the horizon. And, with the brand new wooden platform that was made, this view will have you thinking about it days after you leave. As you walk down the staircase and towards the shore, a unique sight of pebbles will greet your welcome. Sitting in different shapes, sizes, and colours, these smooth-to-the-touch pebbles are one of the greatest treasures of the North Shore of this Great Lake. Spend as much time here as you like, marvelling at the sight of Lake Superior and the surrounding mountains, the calming sound of waves lapping against the pebbles, and the feeling of that fresh northern air on your face.

Penn Lake Park

Marathon is genuinely known for how it divulges all who visit into the nature surrounding them. Another great location to experience this is Penn Lake Park. Enjoy the calming, silky waters of Penn Lake as it invites you into its peaceful ambience. Many relatively easy hiking trails take you through the quiet woods and along the lakeside, allowing you to roam through the luscious greenery of Superior Country and maybe see some wildlife! In Marathon, you can also explore the top of Pic River, a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming!
