About Poplar Point Trail

The Poplar Point Trail is a 4 km (2.4 mi) loop trail that circles the Whispering Hills Campground in Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park. The trail is easy to hike, bike, or ski, with a moderate elevation gain of 40 m (131 ft). The trail passes through a forest of poplar and white birch, where wildlife and songbirds can be seen. The trail also offers views of the Kaministiquia River and the Kakabeka Falls, which are known as the “Niagara of the North.” The trail is ideal for families with small children who want to enjoy nature and history.

Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park offers a range of year-round activities, from nature trails and swimming to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. There are a total of 174 tent and car campsites at the park’s 3 campgrounds: Whispering Hills, Riverside, and Fern’s Edge. During the summer, the park offers programs with the Discovery staff at Exploration Stations.
