About Mink Mountain Trail

The Mink Mountain Trail is a 5.6 km (3.4 mi) loop offering a moderately challenging hike through the Canadian Shield. With an elevation gain of 231 meters (757 feet), the trail provides clear views of Lake Superior and the surrounding boreal forest. Two key lookout points, Mink Island Lookout and Sturgeon Bay Lookout, offer panoramic views of the lake, cliffs, and forest. These spots are ideal for photography or taking a break to enjoy the scenery.

The trail is well-maintained and marked with clear blue blazes, making navigation straightforward for visitors. However, it is worth noting that some sections of the trail are steep and rocky, requiring caution and sturdy footwear. This trail combines scenic views with a manageable level of difficulty, making it a popular choice for hikers exploring the Lake Superior area.
