About Pines Hiking Trail

The Pines Hiking Trail in Quetico Provincial Park offers a 10 km (6.2 mi) round-trip journey through some of Ontario’s most pristine wilderness. This moderate trail extends from the Whiskey Jack Trail, leading hikers to a serene sandy beach framed by towering old-growth Red and White Pine trees. Along the way, the path features moderate to steep climbs, providing panoramic views of the surrounding forest and Pickerel Lake. The solitude of the trail makes it ideal for picnics on the beach or deeper exploration into the park’s interior.

For those interested in an extended adventure, backpackers can obtain an interior camping permit to camp along the trail, immersing themselves fully in the park’s natural beauty. The trail is accessible year-round, offering a unique experience in every season. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful escape or a deeper connection with nature’s ancient guardians, the Pines Hiking Trail delivers both.

Quetico Provincial Park is a sprawling wilderness paradise spanning over 4,700 square kilometers. Renowned for its pristine lakes, rugged forests, and unspoiled beauty, it offers visitors a haven for canoeing, hiking, fishing, and wildlife observation.
