Maintained by the Thunder Bay Hiking Association, this trail is a testament to the rugged beauty of the Canadian wilderness. Follow the Kaministiquia River to a gorge where the quaint Silver Falls cascade into the grand Dog Falls. The trail ascends to the Dog Falls’ summit, offering a breathtaking lookout over the river valley. Beyond the falls, the path ventures into a less-trodden forest, leading to a rocky expanse dubbed the “Hoover Dam” by locals. While some opt for a linear hike, others may choose to shuttle with a second car parked at the lookout for a one-way journey. The Kaministiquia River’s water levels are dam-controlled and can rise rapidly; seek higher ground if changes are observed.
