About Paddling Terrace Bay

Terrace Bay beach, located within the Township of Terrace Bay and part of the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, is the closest launch point to the Slate Islands archipelago. The beach area also offers an interesting paddle experience for both expert and intermediate level paddlers.  Amenities include covered picnic pavilion, and washrooms. An accessible EZ paddling launch is also located near the beach, adjacent to the mouth of the Auguasabon River. Don’t forget to check out the Parks Canada gift shop, located in the beach pavilion. If you feel like exploring on foot, the Parks Canada Red Chairs are at the end of a short trail, just past the beach boardwalk.

On selected dates during the summer season, Parks Canada LSNMCA offers a guided, 1-1.5 hour sea kayak program called “Paddle Through Time”, which launches from the Terrace Bay beach.
