The Kamview Nordic Centre is a full-service ski and snowshoe area located just a short drive off Hwy 61, in rural Thunder Bay. It is conveniently located minutes from restaurants, accommodations, and Loch Lomond downhill ski area. The centre features some 20 km/12.4 miles of snowshoe trail for skill levels ranging from easy to intermediate, with one trail classified for the most advanced users. The trails vary in length from the short connector trails to the 4.4 km/2.8 mi Wilderness Trail. Of all the trails, the Wilderness Trail is the only one that allows dogs.
The trails meander through picturesque Spruce and Tamarack forests, and wide-open meadows. You’ll also see many Balsam Fir and Poplar trees. The North Lookout and the South Lookout are popular destinations for snowshoers, with incredible vistas of the surrounding fields and mountains. Some trails are shared with cross country skiers, and snowshoers are asked to follow proper etiquette by yielding to skiers and stepping over ski tracks.
The centre also features a cozy chalet, where visitors can pay user fees, rent equipment, and warm up after they come back from a great day on the trails. The chalet serves snacks and light fare, including soups, chili, and hot and cold drinks.
