Loch Lomond is a downhill ski area that also features six snowshoe trails, ranging in level from beginner to advanced. All of the trails are loops with the exception of the Lake Trail which is 7.48 km in-and-out, and the Deviled Chicken, which is a lollipop trail that includes both a loop and in-and-out section. The trails meander through snow covered forest, and many have incredible views of Slate Valley, surrounding mountains, and Lake Superior. Portions of the trails share space with the downhill skiers, so snowshoers are asked to follow proper etiquette and proceed with caution in these areas.
There is a large chalet where user fees can be paid, and equipment is available for rent. A snack bar is located on the main floor of the chalet, and on the upper level is the North Face Lounge and Restaurant, a licensed establishment that serves appetizers, gourmet burgers, flatbread pizza, and more. The full-service bar serves beer, wine and spirits. On Friday nights, the lounge hosts live music. This picturesque wintertime playground is just a short drive off of Hwy 61, and is in close proximity to restaurants, accommodations, and Kamview Nordic Centre.
