About Marathon Snowshoe Club

The Marathon Snowshoe Club is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that was established in 2017. The group’s mandate is to provide high quality trail systems and to promote both cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Marathon area. There are four snowshoe trails at the site, ranging in length from 0.5 km/ 0.3 miles to 2 km/1.2 miles.  In total, there are 5 km/3.2 miles of trail for snowshoers to enjoy.  The trails meander through beautiful boreal forest and offer vistas of Lake Superior. Wildlife, including lynx, have been spotted by trail users. Rabbit and deer tracks dart over and around the trail system.

The club has a cozy, heated chalet where users can prepare for their winter adventure, and warm up and relax after they’ve had a great day on the trails. There is a canteen where cold and hot drinks, as well as snacks, are available for purchase. The chalet also offers equipment for rent. Day passes and seasonal memberships can be purchased online or in person at the chalet during hours of operation. Users must purchase a pass prior to using the trails. The club offers night snowshoeing, with lights being on throughout the season when the trails are operational. Pets are welcome on the snowshoe trails only.

All information including chalet hours, fees, maps, and a schedule of special events can be found on the club’s website.
