About Pigeon River Provincial Park Snowshoeing

Pigeon River Provincial Park spans 949 hectares and is classified as a Natural Environment Park. With evidence of human occupation dating back to 7000 BC, the park is not just a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, it is also a portal to the past. It’s renowned for its dramatic High Falls, at 28 meters (92 feet) high, and Middle Falls at 6 meters (19.6 feet). The park is a day-use area open year-round, featuring great non-motorized trails like the Boardwalk and Finger Point. These trails can be used for snowshoeing during the winter months and offer incredible views over Lake Superior and Pigeon River. As there are steep climbs and stairs on High Falls trail, it is not recommended for snowshoeing. Users should be aware that the trails are not tracked or maintained in the winter. As such, some snowshoers may have to break trail from time to time, depending on the level of use the trails have had.

There is a Travel Centre located at the park’s entrance, which is a good resource for general area information, and provincial park details.
