Hurkett Cove Conservation Area

The turnoff is just 1 km west of The Grill Shack on Highway 11/17, follow the signs. Hurkett Cove Conservation Area is located right on Lake Superior, there is a sheltered picnic pavilion with interpretive information.  There is ample parking and an outhouse on site.  Don’t forget your swimsuit, just in case it’s warm enough to brave the Big Lake!  Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is the steward of this beautiful area.

Hurkett Cove Nature Trail

This is a beautiful in and out trail that is about 2 km total.  It’s an area famous for its variety of birds, and is a main site for the annual Dorion Birding Festival.
