On the shore of Lake Superior and a 10-minute drive from the famous Wawa Goose in Wawa, there’s a beautiful sandy beach that lives up to its name. As you walk up rolling dunes of golden sand and wispy grass, you will emerge on a shore with the calming sound of waves hitting the ground and Lake Superior melting into the sky. This is only part of what you can see and experience at Sandy Beach. If you can brave the chilly waters of Lake Superior, you can play in the waves on a warm, windy day, or you can wade in the shallows as the calm waters heat up from the sun.
This beach is also a location of the famed Group of Seven. Here, there is an interpretive panel where you can learn about the landscape captured in the painting and sit in the exact spot in which it was made. There is a pavilion where you can learn about the First Nations’ history of the area, the European settler story, and how Wawa came to be.
Sandy Beach Eco-Interpretive Park in Wawa will surely make your summer day full of adventure, beauty, relaxation, and fun.
