About Angus Island Lighthouse

Angus Island Lighthouse is a navigational aid located on a small island, off the south side of Pie Island, near the entrance of Thunder Bay. It was built in 1927 to guide mariners into the bay, along with the nearby Trowbridge Island Lighthouse. The original lighthouse was a white, square, wooden building with a red roof and a lantern on top. It also had a fog signal station and a radio beacon. In 1967, the lighthouse was replaced by a skeletal steel tower that continues to be active today. The lighthouse can be viewed from the water by charter or private boat. There are also tours out of the Thunder Bay marina that offer lighthouse excursions in the area.
