About Trowbridge Island Lighthouse

Trowbridge Island Lighthouse is an historic lighthouse that marks the entrance to Thunder Bay on Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. It was built in 1924 to guide ships through the dangerous waters near the Sibley Peninsula and the Sleeping Giant rock formation. It is a concrete tower that stands 11.8  metres (35 ft) tall and has a white lantern with a red roof. The lighthouse has a Fresnel lens that flashes a white light every 10 seconds. The lighthouse is managed by the Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior, a non-profit organization that preserves and promotes the heritage of the region’s lighthouses. It is not open to the public but can be seen from Silver Islet or from the water, by boat.
