About Picnic Table Lookout

The Picnic Table Lookout is a popular destination for hikers who want to enjoy the scenic views of Lake Superior and its islands. It is part of the Mount Gwynne Segment of the Casque Isles Trail, a 53-km long wilderness trail that connects the communities of Rossport, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The lookout is 200 ft above Lake Superior and offers a panoramic view of the lake, the boulder beaches, and the ancient rocks and fossils that are some of the oldest on the planet. The trail to the lookout is steep and rocky, passing through forests, creeks, and old mining roads. It is about 1.5 km long and takes about 45 minutes to complete.
