About Edge Arts Studio & Gallery

Edge Arts Studio & Gallery is owned and operated by the Township of Nipigon, and is located in the heart of downtown. The space is housed within formerly abandoned, adjoining structures that were renovated in 2018 with the assistance of a captial grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Edge Arts opened its doors in 2019 with the mandate of providing a positive environment for all ages to explore their creativity.  Visitors and locals alike can participate in drop-in crafting, and scheduled workshops taught by professional artists. The space also hosts  musical performances, seasonal artisian markets and temporary art exhibits.

A multi-use space, Edge Arts is available to rent for a number of uses including: meetings, conferences, cultural teachings/workshops, music/art lessons, and community gatherings.

Quick History

  • The Northwest Company established a post down river from what is now Nipigon in 1785.
  • In 1859, the Hudson’s Bay Trading Company establsihed a trading post at what is currently the Nipigon marina.
  • The Township of Nipigon was incorporated in 1909.
  • Nipigon is located within the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, the creation of which was announced in 2009.
