About Marathon District Museum

The Marathon District Museum has a collection that showcases the history,  the people and the development of the town. The exhibits focus on the pulp mill, Helmo Gold Mines, logging, ghost towns and local interests. The museum also tells local stories and has photographs related to the Group of Seven, a collective of Canadian landscape painters whose paintings were influenced by the rugged coastline of Lake Superior. The Group of Seven were active following WW I, between 1920 to 1933.
