About Red Rock Interpretive Centre

The Red Rock Marina Interpretive Centre, located in the Township of Red Rock on the shores of the mighty Lake Superior, features unique and interactive exhibits that showcase the rich history and intricate ecosystem of the area. Take a virtual submarine ride under the surface of Nipigon Bay and learn about the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area. Children will have fun “catching” numerous local fish species on an interactive smartboard, while learning their names their defining features. Did you know that the town of Red Rock was built in 1937 to provide a community for a newly established mill? The mill’s closure in 2006 had a major economic impact, not just on Red Rock, but the entire region. There is so much to discover about Red Rock – including how and why Red Rock housed a prisoner of war camp. Surrounding the interpretive centre you will find the Red Rock Marina, and beautiful board walk along the coast of Lake Superior. This is a great spot to stop, learn, and stretch your legs, while witnessing some of the best views that Lake Superior has to offer.
