About White Sand Lake Campground

The White Sand Lake Campground is one of two campground locations within Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, the other being the Rossport Campground on the shores of Lake Superior. Located inland, approximately 16 km (9.9 mi) east of Rossport, Ontario, this campground is set along the tranquil shores of White Sand Lake, offering a quieter and more secluded camping experience.

The White Sand Lake Campground features 63 campsites, including options with electrical hookups to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs. Essential amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, and shower facilities. A sanitary dump station is available for RV users. Campers can purchase firewood and ice on-site for added convenience. The campground’s sandy beach provides an inviting spot for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. White Sand Lake is ideal for non-motorized watercraft like canoes and kayaks. Fishing is also popular, with species such as smallmouth bass and northern pike.

Hiking trails are accessible directly from the campground, including paths leading to Rainbow Falls and connecting to the broader trail system, such as the Casque Isles Trail. These trails showcase the park’s diverse landscapes, including waterfalls, forests, and striking geological formations. Additional amenities include picnic areas for day-use visitors and seasonal interpretive programs hosted by park staff, which provide insights into the local environment, history, and wildlife.

As one of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park’s two campground options, White Sand Lake Campground offers a serene setting for outdoor activities and serves as a convenient base for exploring the park’s attractions and the surrounding Lake Superior region.
