Discover the hidden gem of Marathon through this captivating loop that weaves together two distinct landscapes. Starting from Pebble Beach, you’ll pedal your way to Penn Lake and explore the town’s charming surroundings. Both Peddle Beach and Penn Lake are worth exploring on their own. So make sure to get off your bike and stretch your legs in order to take in some of the most amazing views along the North Shore of Lake Superior! This cycling route features a section of the Trans Canada Trail and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.
Experience Level:
Cyclists must be comfortable riding with traffic. Much of this route follows low-volume residential or secondary roads, though some follows Peninsula Road which is the main road in town.
Tips:
Consider extending your stay to enjoy multiple Marathon cycling experiences on separate days, allowing more time to hike Carden Cove, the Lagoon Trail, Hawks Ridge or Penn Lake. Many businesses in Northern Ontario are family owned and operated. If you are relying on them for a stop it is always a good idea to call ahead.
